Like many young men, I was greatly influenced by the professional experiences of my father and grandfather. My father served as a Corporate Human Resources Executive who believed in owning high-quality, historically attractive stocks. My grandfather became a stockbroker upon his return from World War II. Unfortunately, he died at the young age of 45, only seven years after his return. I was always intrigued by stock ownership and graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the Virginia Military Institute and earned an MBA from Winthrop University.
After college, I began a career in human resources with Burlington Industries. Within the next 13 years, I was promoted and offered manufacturing plant executive-level positions with Duracell and Becton-Dickinson. I also served as a Captain and Company Commander in the 108th Training Group of the United States Army Reserve from 1980 to 1988.
Having succeeded in my father's vocation, I felt called to my grandfather's profession of helping people manage their wealth. Walking away from a promising corporate career was difficult with a family and mortgage, but in 1993, I took a leap of faith and started my new career as a financial advisor. I earned the Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM (AAMS®) designation in 2002. I have never looked back and have thoroughly enjoyed helping hundreds of people pursue their long-term goals.
Active in my community, my memberships include past campaign chair of the United Way, past committee chair of the Red Carpet Breakfast, past president of the Sumter Rotary Club, past trustee and past board chair of Palmetto Health Tuomey, and past board member of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Keydet club. I am a current member of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce and the Sumter Touchdown Club.
In an effort to provide my clients with more effective service, I teamed up with my son – Joshua Glenn, Financial Advisor – in 2018 to form The Glenn Group.

I began my investment industry career in 2018 upon teaming up with my father to form The Glenn Group.
Prior to becoming a financial advisor, I served as an insurance agent for State Farm from 2014 to 2018. After assisting numerous individuals and families of various backgrounds, I realized my experience would be best served within the investment services industry. Today, I develop customized wealth management and investment strategies designed to not only help my clients avoid financial hardship, but also to live and retire with the life they've always wanted.
Having earned both the Accredited Asset Management Specialist® (AAMS®) designation and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification, I have attained strong fundamental financial knowledge surrounding asset management and investments and have received in-depth training on insurance reviews, tax strategies, as well as estate planning issues and retirement planning strategies. CFP® certificants also agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold CFP® Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Rules of Conduct, and Financial Planning Practice Standards. Additionally, I earned a B.S. in Economics from Clemson University and hold Series 7 and 66 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities).
Active in my community, I am a member of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, Touchdown Club, and the Young Professionals of Sumter, where I currently serve as a board member. Additionally, I serve as a mentor to students in the business program at Clemson through the TigerTies mentorship program.
